AB  - Acute B. canis infection can lead to an acute phase reaction (APR) in dogs. The parasite invades red blood cells causing
anemia through immune-mediated hemolysis and possible erythropoietic suppression. A regenerative response of the
erythroid lineage during the babesiosis has not been described in extension. This research examines hematologic parameters
focusing on the absolute reticulocyte count and apolipoprotein A I (ApoA I) level on the day of admission and 14 days after
treatment with imidocarb-dipropionate in young (n=11) and adult (n=11) dogs naturally infected with B. canis. Metabolic
and inflammatory processes were characterized by analyzing protein and lipid profiles, as well as ApoA I at specified time
points. Automated analyzers were used to determine complete blood count and biochemical parameters, while ApoA I was
assessed using radioimmunoassay. The reticulocyte count was determined using a manual method by means of supravital
staining. Both young and adult dogs with acute B. canis infection showed non-regenerative anemia without difference.
Fourteen days after successful treatment with imidocarb-dipropionate, the anemia was corrected and a high reticulocyte
count was observed (p<0.05). This indicates that the erythroid regenerative response was efficient in young and adult dogs,
although vital signs, leukocyte count and triglyceride concentration suggest a more intense APR in young dogs. A decrease
in ApoA I in both groups 14 days after treatment (p<0.01) confirmed that this lipoprotein acts as a positive acute-phase
protein in acute B. canis infection in dogs, but further studies are needed to connect its role in erythroid lineage regeneration.

Citologija u svakodnevnoj kliničkoj praksi (limfni čvorovi, kutane i subkutane mase)

AB  - Tankoigledna biopsija je sigurna i brza metoda koja je laka za izođenje.
Preporučuje se kao dijagnostička metoda za sve uvećane limfne čvorove, bilo da
se radi o uni- ili multicentričnim promenama kao i za sve kutane i subkutane
mase. Osim tankoiglene biopsije, po ekstirpaciji limfnog čvora, sa njegovog
preseka se može uraditi preparat – otisak.
Citološkim pregledom limfnog čvora se može utvrditi da li postoji
reaktivna hiperplazija, inflamatorne promena u tipu limfadenitisa, primarna
neoplazija limfnog čvora, infiltracija metastatskim tumorskim ćelijama ili
ekstramedularna hematopoeza.
Svaka od navedenih patoloških promena ima određene citološke
karakteristike. Preparat se pregleda na malom uveličanju da bi se uočila
celularnost, raspored ćelija, eventualne metastatske ćelije i optimalno mesto za
pregled. Potrebno je prepoznati tip pozadinskog (engl. background) materijala
primenjujući prvo malo, a potom i veliko uveličanje. To je materijal koji ne
predstavlja patološke ćelije ispitivanog tkiva/mase, već eritrocite koji dospevaju
na preparat oštećenjem krvnih sudova prilikom pravljenja preparata i/ili
ekstracelularni matriks, i/ili specifičan ekstraćelijski materijal koji može biti
tipičan za određeno tkivo i patološku promenu. Na primer, limfoglandularna
telašca predstavljaju delimično razložene delove apoptotičnih limfocita,
karakterističnog su izgleda i javljaju se u većem broju kod limfoma. Potom,
citološki nalaz uključuje prepoznavanje i opis tipova ćelija koje se vide, njihovu
morfologiju i međusobni odnos.
Osnovna pravila prilikom primene tankoiglene biopsije u pravljenju i
tumačenju citoloških preparata limfnih čvorova su sledeća: treba izbegavati da se
analiziraju submandibularni limfni čvorovi koji vrlo često imaju reaktivne promene. Ukoliko postoji generalizovana limfadenopatija treba uzeti uzorke iz
najmanje dva ili svih limfnih čvorova. Igla promera 22G treba da bude plasirana u
nekoliko pravaca i tangencionalno u odnosu na centar limfnog čvora. Kao
problem se može javiti aspiracija tkiva mimo limfnog čvora, a u
submandibularnom regionu su to često pljuvačne žlezde. Takođe, limitacija
citološke dijagnostike postoji kod sitnoćelijskih limfoma mačaka kada su limfociti
dobro diferencirani ili u slučaju fokalne distribucije metastaza. Stepen slaganja u
dijagnostici i prognozi citoloških interpretacija u odnosu na patohistološke zavisi
od tipa limfoma ili metastatske promene.
Kožni ili potkožni noduli su relativno česti problemi kod pasa i mačaka i
mogu imati različitu etiologiju. Dijagnostički pristup se sastoji od uzimanja
detaljne istorije bolesti, pre svega da li je promena nastala naglo ili je prisutna
duži vremenski period. Brzina rasta je takodje od velike važnosti, kao i sam
klinički izgled promene, kao i da li su dobro ograničene. Dubina lezije takođe
može biti od pomoći za izradu diferencijalne liste i dijagnostičkog plana. Ponovno
pojavljanje lezije u oblastima gde je izvršena operacija najčešće ukazuje na
neoplastičnu tvorevinu. Kod starijih pasa česte su potpuno benigne izrasline sa
karakterističnim izgledom. Pozitivan odgovor na antibiotike često ukazuje na
infektivnu etiologiju, ali ne isključuje mogućnost istovremenih bolesti kao što su
dermatomikoze ili tumori.
Prva diferencijacija u proceni nodula je da se utvrdi ili isključi postojanje
neoplastičnih promena za razliku od inflamatornih uzroka ili hiperplazije tkiva. U
te svrhe se koristi tankoiglena biopsija, kako bi se identifikovale prisutne ćelije. U
velikom broju slučajeva kliničar na osnovu mikroskopskog pregleda pripremljenih
pločica, može da proceni da li je u pitanju neoplazija, hiperplazija ili inflamatorni
proces. Na osnovu toga ili preuzima adekvatnu terapiju ili sprovodi dodatne
dijagnostičke postupke.
Sveobuhvatno gledano, sa pojedinim izuzecima, citologija predstavlja
brzu, jednostavnu i pouzdanu metodu za dijagnostiku inflamatornih i
neoplastičnih promena limfnih čvorova, kao i nodula na koži.

Could homocysteine represent a negative acute phase reactant in canine infections-a pilot study?

AB  - Homocysteine (Hcy) was investigated as the biomarker of cardiac, renal, and gastrointestinal disorders
in dogs. Data about low Hcy concentrations in the systemic inflammatory response syndrome raised a hypothesis that
Hcy in dogs could be a negative acute-phase reactant. This survey compared Hcy concentrations, serum amyloid A
(SAA), and the routine laboratory parameters between healthy (HD, N=6) and dogs with inflammation of different
extent: mild (dirofilariosis (DIR), N=31), moderate (babesiosis (BAB), N=12), and severe (pyometra (PYO), N=8).
The BAB and PYO groups had lower Hcy er than HD. Also, the levels in the PYO group were below those in the
DIRO group. SAA had the inverse pattern. Across the groups, Hcy and SAA levels correlated negatively (ρ = -0.502,
P<0.001). Hcy and SAA correlated with the erythrocyte count, hematocrit, hemoglobin and mean cellular hemoglobin
concentrations, and neutrophil count, with correlations being positive for Hcy and negative for SAA. Among all dogs,
hemoglobin was the only independent predictor of Hcy concentration. Hcy levels in canine infections, decreased as
acute-phase reaction (APR) intensified. Also, they were related with the hematology changes accompanying the APR.
Further studies will establish the clinical potential of these alterations.

AB  - Transformacije tržišta zahtevaju adekvatan odgovor subjekata
koji na istom plasiraju svoju uslugu/robu. U Srbiji vreme tranzicije se
nastavlja i zahteva odgovor veterinarske struke. Da bi odgovor bio
profesionalan i ekonomski efikasan neophodno je sagledati trenutno
stanje struke kako u Srbiji tako i u okruženju i pripremati se da proaktivno
delujemo na tržištu usluga/roba. Potrebno je da realno shvatimo
nove trendove tržišta, na kojima delujemo i pronađemo, za nas najpovoljnija
rešenja.

AB  - Prema mehanizmu nastanka, anemije se klasifikuju na
hemoličke i hemoragijske i anemije koje nastaju usled
poremećaja na nivou kostne srži. Hemoličke i hemoragijske
anemije su najčešće praćene ubrzanom eritropoezom i jakim
regenerativnim odgovorom, koji se ogleda u značajnom
porastu broja retikulocita. Suprotno, poremećaji na nivou
kostne srži, koji najčešće uključuju različite oblike
imunosupresije, inhibiciju proliferacije eritroidnih progenitora
i/ili nedostatak nutritivnih faktora, dijagnostikuju se kao
neregenerativne anemije, koje se analizom krvne slike
prepoznaju na osnovu relativno malog broja retikulocita.

AB  - Background: Lower homocysteine (Hcy) concentraon was noced in dogs with
systemic inflammatory response syndrome of various aeology, in comparison with
healthy dogs. Objecve. The study had two objecves: to compare Hcy
concentraons in serum between dogs naturally infected with Babesia canis and
healthy dogs; to assess the relaonship between Hcy concentraon and the results
of the roune laboratory tests. Materials and methods. The study enrolled twelve
dogs infected with B. canis (BAB) and six healthy dogs (HD). The commercial
immunoassay, spectrophotometry, and haematology kits were used. Stascal
analyses included the Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman's rank correlaon
analysis. Results: BAB had lower concentraons of Hcy than HD (p=0.045). When
analysing the results from all studied dogs together, Hcy had a posive correlaon
with erythrocyte count (r=0.771; p=0.001), haemoglobin concentraon (r=0.696;
p=0.004), haematocrit (r=0.664; p=0.007), leukocyte count (r=0.554; p=0.032), and
total protein concentraon (r=0.689; p=0.004), and a negave with glycaemia (r=-
0.693; p=0.004). Conclusion: The obtained results provide preliminary evidence
about the associaon between acute canine babesiosis and lowered Hcy
concentraon in blood. Further studies will decipher whether this finding has
clinical applicability or represents just an APR epiphenomenon.

AB  - In September 2018, a four-month-old dog with fever and petechial bleeding came to the internal clinic at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Belgrade. On hematology analysis, thrombocytopenia and mild anemia were observed. Examination of the blood smear revealed platelet inclusions. The commercial serology test was positive for Anaplasma spp. The dog was treated with doxycycline for 14 days, and after 48 hours from the beginning of the treatment, the symptoms subsided. PCR analysis and sequencing confirmed infection with A. platys.
AB  - U septembru 2018. godine, štene staro četiri meseca, sa znacima groznice i petehijalnim krvarenjem, je došlo u ambulantu Klinike za male životinje Fakulteta veterinarske medicine Univerziteta u Beogradu. Hematološka analiza je pokazala trombocitopeniju i blagu anemiju. Pregledom krvnog razmaza ustanovljene su inkluzije u trombocitima. Komercijalni serološki test je pokazao prisustvo antitela protiv Anaplasma spp. Sprovedena je terapija doksiciklinom u trajanju od 14 dana, a posle 48 sati od početka terapije znaci bolesti su se povukli. PCR analizom i senkvencioniranjem je potvrđeno prisustvo Anaplasma platys.

AB  - Asymptomatic outdoor dogs can be carriers of Babesia canis, but data describing the development of an acute phase response (APR) are not available. We hypothesised that these dogs have a moderate APR that could be detected by hematological and biochemical changes. Two groups of Babesia-exposed dogs were represented by nine B. canis PCR-positive and twenty B. canis PCR-negative, seroreactive dogs. The control group consisted of ten Babesia-naïve dogs. Serum amyloid A (SAA), paraoxonase-1 (PON-1), complete blood count, and biochemistry parameters were analysed by standard methodologies. Protein and lipoprotein fractions were separated using agarose gel electrophoresis (GE), and the dominant diameters of lipoproteins were assessed on gradient GE. Results were evaluated using non-parametric tests and the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve. SAA (median 39.0 μg/mL, range 2.2–48.8 μg/mL), total protein (median 74.7 g/L, range 57.1–98.3 g/L) and the dominant diameter of α-lipoproteins (median 13.31 nm, range 12.09–14.17 nm) in B. canis PCR-positive dogs were higher relative to dogs in the control group or dogs that were PCR-negative but seroreactive (p < 0.001 for both groups). Mild to moderate anemia (4/29), thrombocytopenia (7/29), and leukocyte counts that were close to the upper limit of the reference range were encountered in both Babesia-exposed groups. When compared to controls, Babesia-exposed dogs displayed decreased a PON-1 activity and protein GE pattern consistent with low-grade chronic inflammation (p < 0.001 for both groups). Dogs with detectable amounts of B. canis DNA in blood contain increased levels of SAA and total protein along with α-lipoproteins that display an increased diameter relative to those dogs with positive Babesia serology but undetectable levels of B. canis DNA in blood.

Hаematologic indices in clinically healthy outdoor dogs exposed to vector-borne pathogens

AB  - Haematologic abnormalities possibly associated with exposure to vector-borne pathogens are rarely reported in clinically healthy outdoor dogs. Therefore, we analysed changes in the complete blood count (CBC) of clinically healthy outdoor dogs seroreactive to Anaplasma spp. and Babesia spp., with or without microfilariosis. Stray, shelter and hunting dogs, 81 in total, that were polymerase chain reaction negative for Anaplasma spp. and Babesia spp. were divided into groups according to their seroreactive status and results of a modified Knott’s test: seronegative to both Anaplasma spp. and Babesia spp. SN (N=26); seroreactive to A. phagocythophilum SR-A (N=12); seroreactive to B. canis, B. gibsoni and/or B. vogeli SR-B (N=25); and seroreactive to both of the pathogens SR-AB (N=8). These four groups were negative to microfilariosis, unlike the fifth group, seroreactive to either or to both of the pathogens and with microfilariosis SR-M (N=10). The frequencies of CBC alterations among all analysed dogs were: 0.35 – leucocytosis, 0.44 – granulocytosis, 0.28 – anaemia, 0.74 – microcytosis, 0.37 – increased mean cell haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and 0.33 – thrombocytopenia. The frequency of alterations did not differ across the groups. An exception was the SR-M group wherein increased MCHC peaked with a frequency of 0.80, while in the 
other four groups, the frequency ranged between 0.10 and 0.50. Clinically healthy outdoor dogs have multiple CBC abnormalities, consistent with stress and low-level chronic inflammation, but not associated with a previous exposure to Anaplasma spp. or Babesia spp. The presence of microfilaria increases haemolysis in vitro.
AB  - Klinički zdravi psi koji borave na otvorenom i koji su izloženi patogenima koje prenose vektori mogu imati hematološke premećaje vezane za dejstvo tih patogena. Ipak, hematološke pretrage se retko izvode na toj populaciji pasa. Stoga je cilj našeg rada bio da utvrdimo promene u krvnoj slici zdravih pasa lutalica, pasa smeštenih u azilima i lovačkih pasa, seroreaktivnih na uzročnike bolesti iz rodova Anaplasma i Babesia, sa ili bez mikrofilarioze. U ovom radu je ispitana krvna slika 81 psa. U studiju su uključeni psi kod kojih lančanom reakcijom polimerizacije nije pokazano prisustvo DNK Anaplasma spp. i Babesia spp. Psi su prema serološkom statusu raspoređeni u sledeće grupe: seronegativni na Anaplasma spp. i Babesia spp. SN (N=26), seroreaktivni na A. phagocytophilum SR-A (N=12), seroreaktivni na B. canis, B. gibsoni i/ili B. vogeli SR-B (N=25) i seroreaktivni na oba navedena patogena SR-AB (N=8). Ove četiri grupe su bile negativne na mikrofilariozu, dok je peta grupa, seroreaktivna na neki ili oba patogena imala i mikrofilarije SR-M (N=10). Učestalost promena kompletne krvne slike među svim ispitivanim psima je bila sledeća: 0,35 za leukocitozu, 0,44 za granulocitozu, 0,28 za anemiju, 0,74 za mikrocitozu, 0,37 za povećanu prosečnu koncentraciju hemoglobina u eritrocitima i 0,33 za trombocitopeniju. Grupe se nisu razlikovale u pogledu učestalosti navedenih promena. Izuzetak je grupa SR-M u kojoj je učestalost povećanja vrednosti za prosečnu koncentraciju hemoglobina u eritrocitima iznosila 0,80. U ostale četiri grupe ta učestalost je iznosila između 0,10 i 0,50. Zaključak je da ispitivani psi imaju višestruke poremećaje krvne slike koji najverovatnije odražavaju stres i nizak stepen hronične inflamacije, ali ne i vezu sa prethodnim kontaktom sa Anaplasma spp. i Babesia spp. Prisustvo mikrofilarija izaziva hemolizu in vitro.

Association of acute Babesia canis infection and serum lipid, lipoprotein, and apoprotein concentrations in dogs

AB  - Background Babesia canis infection induces a marked acute phase response (APR) that might be associated with alteration in lipid and lipoprotein metabolism and disease prognosis. Hypothesis Dogs with B. canis-induced APR develop dyslipidemia with altered lipoprotein concentration and morphology. Animals Twenty-nine client-owned dogs with acute B. canis infection and 10 clinically healthy control dogs. Methods Observational cross-sectional study. Serum amyloid A (SAA) was measured using ELISA. Cholesterol, phospholipids, and triglycerides were determined biochemically. Lipoproteins were separated using agarose gel electrophoresis. Lipoprotein diameter was assessed by polyacrylamide gradient gel electrophoresis; correlation with ApoA-1 (radioimmunoassay) and SAA was determined. Results Dogs with B. canis infection had a marked APR (median SAA, 168.3 mu g/mL; range, 98.1-716.2 mu g/mL) compared with controls (3.2 mu g/mL, 2.0-4.2 mu g/mL) (P < .001). Dogs with B. canis infection had significantly lower median cholesterol (4.79 mmol/L, 1.89-7.64 mmol/L versus 6.15 mmol/L, 4.2-7.4 mmol/L) (P = .02), phospholipid (4.64 mmol/L, 2.6-6.6 mmol/L versus 5.72 mmol/L, 4.68-7.0 mmol/L) (P = .02), and alpha-lipoproteins (77.5%, 27.7%-93.5% versus 89.2%, 75.1%-93.5%) (P = .04), and higher ApoA-1 (1.36 U, 0.8-2.56 U versus 0.95 U, 0.73-1.54 U) concentrations (P = .02). Serum amyloid A correlated with high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) diameter (rho = .43; P = .03) and ApoA-1 (rho = .63, P < .001). Conclusions and Clinical Importance Major changes associated with B. canis-induced APR in dogs are related to concentration, composition, and morphology of HDL particles pointing to an altered reverse cholesterol transport. Parallel ApoA-1 and SAA concentration increase is a unique still unexplained pathophysiological finding.

Effects of short-term fasting on lipid and lipoprotein concentrations in healthy lean dogs

AB  - Introduction. Analysis of canine lipoprotein fractions after agarose gel electrophoresis (agEF) separation could be an important diagnostic tool in primary and secondary dyslipidemia diagnosis. The aim of this study was to measure concentrations of triglycerides and cholesterol and to analyze lipoprotein fractions in dogs after basal (12 hours) and short-term (24 and 36 hours) fasting, i.e., frequent conditions in clinical practice. Materials and Methods. Blood samples were collected from six lean dogs of both sexes and different breeds, after 12, 24 and 36 hours of fasting. Concentrations of glucose, triglycerides and cholesterol were determined on an automated wet biochemistry analyzer, lipoprotein fractions were separated by agEF and leukocyte numbers were assessed on an automated hematology analyzer. Results and Conclusions. Results showed there was no significant change in glucose, triglyceride and cholesterol concentrations nor in leukocyte numbers during dog fasting. Moreover, there was no change in α1- and α2-fractions, but there was a significant decrease in preβ- and β-fraction of lipoproteins. It is know that high density lipoproteins (HDL) have α-mobility and very low density (VLDL) and low density lipoproteins (LDL) have preβ- and β-mobility. Thus, it is possible that reverse cholesterol transport maintained by HDL is not affected during short-term fasting. On the contrary, synthesis of VLDL and formation of LDL are probably decreased because endogenous synthesis of triglycerides is decreased or their clearance is increased.
AB  - Uvod. Poznato je iz literature da se odnosi lipoproteinskih frakcija seruma pasa koje se dobijaju posle elektroforeze na agaroznom gelu (EFag) menjaju kod oboljenja praćenih dislipidemijama, što može biti jedan od značajnih elemenata dijagnostike pojedinih patoloških stanja. Stoga je cilj ovih ispitivanja bio da se utvrdi koncentracija triglicerida, holesterola i glukoze u serumu pasa kao i odnos lipoproteinskih frakcija dobijenih pomoću EFag, u uslovima koji se često sreću u kliničkoj praksi: posle bazalnog (12 časova) i kratkotrajnog gladovanja od 24 i 36 časova. Materijal i metode. Uzorci krvi su sakupljeni od šest pasa različitih rasa, normalne telesne kondicije, oba pola, posle 12, 24 i 36 časova gladovanja. Koncentracija glukoze, triglicerida i holesterola je određena na automatskom biohemijskom analizatoru. Lipoproteinske frakcije su razdvojene korišćenjem EFag. Broj leukocita je utvrđen na hematološkom analizatoru. Rezultati i zaključak. Rezultati ovog ispitivanja su pokazali da se tokom kratkotrajnog gladovanja kod pasa koncentracija glukoze, triglicerida i holesterola kao i broj leukocita ne menjaju. Osim toga, nije bilo promena vezanih za α1-i α2-elektroforetske zone, ali se javio značajan pad koncentracije lipoproteina preβ-i β-zone. Poznato je da se lipoproteini velike gustine (HDL) nalaze u α-zoni, dok lipoproteini veoma male gustine (VLDL) i lipoproteini male gustine (LDL) pripadaju preβ-i β-zoni. Na osnovu naših nalaza moguće je zaključiti da reverzni transport holesterola koji se odvija posredstvom HDL-a nije poremećen tokom kratkotrajnog gladovanja. Nasuprot tome, kratkotrajno gladovanje verovatno utiče na smanjen obim sinteze triglicerida u jetri, odnosno na smanjenu sintezu VLDL-a i LDL-a ili na njihovo efikasnije uklanjanje iz plazme.

Acute-phase response in Babesia canis and Dirofilaria immitis co-infections in dogs

AB  - Babesia canis and Dirofilaria immitis are emerging and geographically overlapping vector-borne pathogens in dogs. Infection with B. canis leads to acute-phase response (APR) that can be mild to severe and results in either non-complicated or complicated forms of the disease. The aim of this study was to determine whether acute B. canis infection is more severe in dogs with underlying asymptomatic D. immitis infection. Dogs of both sexes, different ages and breeds, with naturally occurring mono-infections with B. canis (n = 13) and D. immitis (n = 18) and co-infected dogs (n = 7) were enrolled as well as healthy controls (n = 15). Routine haematology and biochemistry, agarose gel electrophoresis (agEF) protein fraction separation and enzyme-linked immtmosorbent assay (ELISA) for serum amyloid A (SAA) were performed. Based on clinical and laboratory findings, sepsis was diagnosed in the majority of dogs with acute B. cants infection with or without underlying asymptomatic D. immitis infection. Overall, haematology, biochemistry and agEF pattern changes were induced and dictated by acute B. cards infection whether or not the dogs had an asymptomatic D. immitis infection. D. immitis infection slightly influenced the level of anaemia, slightly aggravated the level of dehydration and increased the concentration of gamma-globulins in acute-phase B. canis infection. D. immitis infection prevented B. canis-induced leukopenia. SAA equally increased in dogs with acute B. cans infection with or without underlying D. immitis infection. The level of SAA was not changed in dogs with asymptomatic D. immitis when compared to the controls. In conclusion, asymptomatic D. immitis infection does not influence overall APR after acute B. canis infection.

Intestinal lymphangiectasia in dogs, challenging diagnosis: Four cases

AB  - Intestinal lymphangiectasia is an uncommon disease which can cause severe, chronic protein-losing enteropathy in dogs. Four dogs were presented at the Belgrade Clinic for Small Animals with clinical signs of chronic diarrhea, lethargy, anorexia, vomiting and weight loss. Abnormal physical examination findings included dehydration, signs of pain on abdominal palpation, and ascites. The most important clinicopathological findings were lymphopenia and hypoproteinemia with hypoalbuminemia. Abdominal ultrasound revealed intestinal abnormalities in all dogs. To establish an undoubted diagnosis of intestinal lymphangiectasia, endoscopy and histopathology were conducted.
AB  - Crevna limfangiektazija predstavlja retko oboljenje kod pasa koje može izazvati ozbiljne, hronične enteropatije sa gubitkom proteina. Na Klinici za male životinje u Beogradu su primljena četiri psa sa simptomima hronične dijareje, letargije, anoreksije, povraćanja i gubitka na težini. Opštim pregledom su ustanovljene promene u smislu dehidratacije, bolnosti na palpaciju abdomena i ascitesa. Najznačajnije kliničko-patološke promene su bile limfopenija i hipoproteinemija sa hipoalbuminemijom. Ultrazvučnim pregledom abdomena su ustanovljene promene na crevima kod svih pasa. Da bismo postavili nesumljivu dijagnozu crevne limfangiektazije urađena je endoskopija i histopatologija.
